Esther Gies received her PhD in Microbial Ecology from the University of British Columbia in November 2015. She is now working as a postdoctoral researcher for the Vancouver Aquarium’s Ocean Pollution Research Program. Her work focuses on microplastic pollution in the ocean, including both transport of microplastics into the ocean and their fate.
Esther is driven by her passion to live a green and sustainable life. She extends this passion into her research, contributing valuable scientific findings that can drive policy making in a positive direction and lead us into a more sustainable future.
