After entering the season nursing an ankle injury, Zion Williamson is dealing with a hip and back injury.

The one-time All-Star took a hard fall in the Pelicans’ overtime loss to the Jazz on Oct. 23, resulting in a right posterior hip injury and low back contusion. He was initially listed as questionable for Tuesday’s matchup with the Mavericks, but he was later ruled out.

The Pelicans are back in action on Friday when they travel to Phoenix to take on the Suns. Will Williamson be available to play?

Is Zion Williamson playing vs. Suns tonight?

After previously listing Williamson as questionable for Friday’s game, the Pelicans later downgraded him to out. New Orleans will start Jose Alvarado, CJ McCollum, Trey Murphy III, Naji Marshall and Jonas Valanciunas against Phoenix.

Williamson appeared in the first three games of the season for the Pelicans. He’s averaging 22.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.0 steals on 49.1 percent shooting from the field.

Friday’s matchup with the Suns is the first of three straight road games for the Pelicans. Following their meeting with the Suns, the Pelicans will travel to Los Angeles to face the Clippers (Oct. 30) and Lakers (Nov. 2).
