NBA Betting Lines, Odds & Picks for Wednesday

Celtics at Cavaliers Prediction

These two teams just faced each other at the end of October, and the Cavaliers came away with a 132-123 thrilling overtime win in Boston. Many points were scored in the game, which has been typical for the Cavs this season, as the team is 4-2 to the O/U so far. Cleveland will be looking for their sixth-straight win when they take on Boston at home in this one. They are a massively improved team, and Donovan Mitchell has a lot to do with that. The Cavaliers’ offseason addition via trade with the Utah Jazz has been electric, and he has boosted them into true contenders. In the last game against Boston, he scored 41 points, as did his teammate Caris LeVert. Cleveland also shot an insane 46 percent from three and 52 percent in the game, so they were ultra-efficient.

Boston is off to a good start to the season, just not as good as Cleveland. The season-opening title favorites are sitting pretty at 4-2, and they will look to end this Cavs’ streak. If they want to do that, they need to play far better than they did last time, especially on defense. There is a reason this team was the favorite to begin the season, and they have all the talent in the world. The offense is cooking with gas on most nights, and they can usually overwhelm their opponents.

PICK: The Cavaliers have to lose at some point, and if we can get some plus money with Boston here, I’d take it. They have as good a chance as any team to end this run.

Grizzlies at Trail Blazers Prediction

The Portland Trail Blazers are another team that’s off to a surprising start in what was expected to be a losing season for the team. There were so many Damian Lillard trade rumors going around it was hard to keep up with them all, but if they keep playing like they are, the superstar could be in Portland for the foreseeable future. The Trail Blazers’ only loss on the year was to the Miami Heat at home, which is a bit weird since Miami has struggled to begin the season. Lillard won’t play in this game due to injury, but the team has continued to play well even when he isn’t on the court. The question will be if they can sustain this success with a team that isn’t the most talented in the world. As you would expect, Portland is 5-1 against the spread.

The Grizzlies are a team that is going to be good but also frustrating this season. They have the talent to be a really good basketball team but are often disappointing. That is reflected in their poor 2-4-1 ATS record to begin the year, and I feel like that might continue. The defense has been lacking as well, and that is something they will need to get better at should they make the playoffs. Ja Morant is one of the best players in the sport, but he can’t do everything.

PICK: I like the Trail Blazers at home here. Without Lillard, they should probably be an underdog, so getting some points with them would be my pick here. They have been the better team so far, and I don’t trust the Grizzlies right now.

Raptors at Spurs Prediction

The two former homes of Kawhi Leonard face off when the Toronto Raptors travel down to Texas to take on the San Antonio Spurs. The Raptors are a competitive team, but they just don’t have that one superstar player like a Leonard to push them over the top. They have been playing well to begin the year, with a 4-3 record and an impressive 4-2-1 ATS record, so they are performing above expectations. I like what I have seen out of them so far. Pascal Siakam continues to establish himself as one of the best big men in the game, and they continue to impress on the defensive end of the floor.

The Spurs have been perhaps the biggest shock of the season up to this point. Gregg Popovich himself; said before the season that this wasn’t a team you want to put your money on, but that might have been a lie. They are 5-2 ATS and straight up, which has resulted in quite the profit for Spurs bettors, as they have often been large underdogs this year. This is a very young team that has a ways to go, but winning this early on is a positive sign for the organization. Keldon Johnson has been fantastic, and his continued growth will be imperative for this squad going forward.

PICK: While the San Antonio story is a great one, Toronto is the better team here. They will be on the road, but that defense should be able to do enough to contain the young Spurs, and I don’t know who is stopping Siakam on that team. I’ll take the Raptors in this one.
