Is Gus Edwards playing Monday night? Fantasy injury update for Ravens-Saints Week 9 Monday Night Football

Ravens running back Gus Edwards made his triumphant return to the field two weeks ago after missing last season due to a torn ACL. The veteran running back did not miss a beat in his first game back. Edwards ran for 66 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries against the Browns in Week 7. However, there’s a chance he could miss Monday night’s game after suffering a hamstring injury in last week’s win over Tampa Bay. With the Ravens playing Monday night, fantasy owners will have to make some tough start ’em, sit ’em decisions at the running back spot ahead of Sunday’s 1 p.m. kickoff for Week 9.

We’ll continue to update this article with news on Edwards until the official active/inactive report comes out on Monday around 6:45 p.m. ET.

Is Gus Edwards playing Monday night Week 9?

Edwards (hamstring) was officially listed as doubtful ahead of the Ravens’ Monday night contest against the Saints. The veteran running back suffered the soft-tissue injury in the fourth quarter of last week’s game against the Buccaneers. Before exiting the primetime matchup, Edwards had 65 rushing yards on 11 carries. The 27-year-old running back did not practice throughout the week, leaving doubt that he could play Monday night.

If the Ravens are without Edwards, they will likely turn to veteran running back Kenyan Drake, who did not run the ball well against the Buccaneers, as 40 of his 62 yards came on one play. However, he managed to have a receiving touchdown, which should boost his stock heading into Monday night.

Owners hope Drake can give them a solid effort against the Saints, who have allowed the seventh-fewest fantasy points to RBs this season. It is not a great fantasy matchup for Drake on paper. However, with an unprecedented six teams on a bye, he’s one of the best options on the waiver wire. Without Edwards in the picture, he should lead the team in carries on Monday night.
